Vetoryl: Notes from our vet
If you notice your dog becoming slower than usual or starting to lose their shiny coat, it can be easy to think they are just getting older. But this could be a sign that they are ill. Cushing’s disease is one of the most common diseases of older or middle aged dogs. Caused by too much cortisol in the blood if left untreated it can have very harmful effects. Dogs with the disease may be drinking or eating more than usual, panting, losing their fur or not wanting to walk and play.
Although the disease can’t be cured it can be managed with Vetoryl capsules which work to reduce the amount of cortisol your dog produces. This is the only licenced medicine to treat Cushing’s disease and will need to be prescribed by your vet.
You should monitor your dog closely when they are taking Vetoryl to make sure they don’t suffer any side effects. You will also need to visit your vet regularly to check the dose is right for your pet.
You should see your dog’s drinking and eating habits get back to normal in a few weeks, but other symptoms may take longer to improve, sometimes up to 6 months. If your dog starts being sick or has diarrhoea, severe lethargy or anorexia then you should stop giving them the drug and ask your vet for help immediately. So always make sure that you take any changes in your dog’s behaviour seriously and get a vet to look at them. If they do have Cushing’s disease then with the right treatment you will soon see that there can be life in your old dog yet.

On 15 Jun 2017 Bob Martin Vetcare responded:
Hi Alan! Thanks so much for the feedback. We really appreciate it!
A quiet and undemanding representative on the phone who gave professional advice and listened to the symptoms of the dog and was pleased for the feedback of the product (Zylkene). Even the manufacturer when telephoned, didn't give such a good service. I'd call Bob Martin Vetcare again for advice! Gromit's happy too!
It was easy to order what I wanted and it was delivered on time. It was an excellent service Thank You
My dog has severe arthritis and is taking rymidol pain killers for the forseable. Unfortunately as these tablets are anti inflamitory's they affect his tummy and he always has the runs and also kept being sick. I read about this powder so thought I'd give it a try. He has been on these for 6 months now and has only had diahreah once and hasn't been sick. Amazing product which I highly recommend. Also the price is excellent would have cost me £80 at the vets so by buying from bob martin it is half price perfect thank you
Ordering and payment was fairly easy and delivery within a couple of days. When you have four cats, the value for money is good.
Thankyou from ; Pebbles, Ruffio, Crystal and George !
