Royal Canin Feline Mobility: Notes from our vet
Arthritis is very common in older cats but as we don’t always watch them when they are hunting or running around it can be difficult to tell if they are suffering from the disease. Cats don’t tend to go lame but will instead just be stiffer than usual. It might be a while before you notice this, especially if your cat sleeps for most of the day.
If you start seeing your cat looking for cool places to sleep, not jumping as high or having trouble walking, it could be a sign that they are suffering from joint problems and you should ask your vet for advice.
If your cat is diagnosed with arthritis they may be prescribed anti-inflammatory medication which works well to reduce pain. However this can’t be given to cats with kidney problems as it can make their condition worse. This rules out such treatment for many older arthritic cats who are likely to have kidney disease too.
Royal Canin Feline Mobility can help. It contains high levels of green lipped muscle, well known for its healing effects on inflamed joints. It also has low levels of phosphorus which means that cats with kidney disease are able to enjoy it without any damaging side effects.
It’s also full of important antioxidants and minerals to keep bones and joints healthy and help cats move better.
Always ask your vet before changing your cat’s diet. However by feeding Royal Canine Feline Mobility Support your cat will be able to walk, run and play better helping them stay happy and healthy for longer.
